These two chairs were designed to test the viability of making affordable and sustainable furniture for younger professional couples moving into their first home. This has been done by batch-making the chairs using jigs and other repeatable methods. The materials chosen for these chairs were specifically for sustainability. The wood chosen was locally felled timber that would have been burnt because of its colour inconsistencies. The cord is made entirely from dyed recycled paper. These chairs are also made with traditional wedged joinery so that no glue is needed. This allowed the chairs to be almost completely sustainable which will help to appeal to the younger market with a more sustainability-focused lifestyle.
